Episode 204 - Rabun Gap Ramble

On this week's episode of Georgia Traveler, we're on a "Rabun Gap Ramble", exploring the Rabun Gap Loop in the northeast mountains. After an appropriate safety course, Phil is experiencing the outdoors on a motorcycle. The famed Dillard House is our getaway and David finds family fun at Lake Burton. Keely and the guys learn to ride the rapids on the Chattooga River and Phil discovers food with a view at Isabelle’s on the Gorge in Tallulah Falls.

As one of the first streams added to the National Wild and Scenic River System, the Chattooga River was the site for the filming of the movie Deliverance. The smallest state park in Georgia, Moccasin Creek makes up for what it lacks in size by the many things to do and see there. Not the least of which is the U.S. Fish Hatchery, located right across the creek. Join David as he tries a little boating and fishing (with a license, of course!).

Classic cuisine meets legendary surroundings when Phil finds Isabelle’s on the Gorge, a unique restaurant tucked away in Rabun Gap. Isabelle’s is named for five generations of Isabelles in the family, and features some of the best food around. From fried green tomatoes stuffed with provolone and Paul’s Mile High Reuben Sandwich to Papa Bear’s Black Angus Bleu Burger and the World’s Smallest Hot Fudge Sundae, Phil doesn’t leave Tallulah Gorge hungry.
