Field Trip: Little White House Historic Site

From 1924 to 1945 Franklin Delano Roosevelt made Warm Springs, Georgia one of his homes. Hoping that the warm springs would help him with his polio, he made frequent trips here. When you visit the "Little White House" you will can also tour a museum, and view a film that gives you a personal view into many of the important events that were occurring during his presidency in the depression and World War II (Rosie the Riveter Association is based here now). Rural Electrification and the Civilian Conservation Corps were programs that strongly effected rural areas, and his time in rural Warm Springs is credited by some for having further sensitized him to the needs of rural America.
