Field Trip: Heritage Center
View ancient artifacts and see experience the Appalachian Settlers' Village. Call for days that have demonstrations of daily life in early Appalachia. Explore the lives of both early settlers and Native Americans in the southwestern United States. The Center is said to interpret 12,000 years of history through its various exhibits. Features impressive dioramas, computer interactive programs, and an award-winning HDTV movie about the lives of Native Americans in the region. Check current exhibits that include contemporary Native American art and "Tools of the Trade," a permanent exhibit of hand tools from as early as the 17th century. Each October, the museum holds a special three day school field trip event called the Georgia History Timeline which features re-enactors who portray Georgia's historical figures from from early exploration through the Civil War.
