Field Trip: Fernbank Museum of Natural History
While the Federal Reserve System did not begin until 1913, you can learn a lot about the role of coin and currency before that time. The Visitors Center and Monetary Museum is described on their web site and it "features a display on the history of money; interactive, multimedia exhibits explaining the Federal Reserve's role in the economy; and a view of the bank's automated vault and cash processing areas." School tours are available by reservation.
