Field Trip: The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension
This church was founded by the Salzburgers in 1741. The Salzburgers were a group of Lutherans who fled Germany to the Colony of Georgia in 1734 seeking religious freedom. They were welcomed by Oglethorpe. The church is known for its church history exhibits.
