7: DuPont's Disclosure
That court case publicly introduced other documents, showing on numerous occasions, DuPont did not publicly disclose other company findings. These company studies showed PFOA exposure among workers contributed to an increase in birth defects, among other health problems.
DuPont spokesman Dan Turner told GPB "the past is in the past." Turner also noted DuPont is working with the EPA to "eliminate the chemical by 2015."
No Known Health Effects
Turner says "DuPont believes there are no human health effects known to be caused by PFOA."
That's also the position of Dalton Utilities. In a statement to GPB, the municipality wrote: "Dalton Utilities has taken no action regarding PFOA and will take no action until the regulatory agencies who permit our operations provide us with guidance indicating that any action is necessary."
