Historic Gainesville

When it comes to location, Gainesville is second to none. Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the 19th largest City in the state is surrounded on three sides by Lake Sidney Lanier. We explore this unique city and learn of its history. There was a time when Gainesville’s northeastern neighbor was a hamlet named Rabbittown. Rabbits were raised to sell but were displaced by poultry. A 20 foot tall bunny monument was built in 1993 just off the old Cornelia highway in remembrance of the old days.
