Austin Dabney's Grave

The town of Zebulon in Pike County has charm, history, and one of Georgia’s most interesting Revolutionary War sites and the final resting place of Austin Dabney the only black Georgian to fight the British. We visit his grave where we learned about a remarkable friendship between Giles Harris a lawyer and slave owner and Austin Dabney. Dabney’s life long friendship with Harris lasted for generations so much so that Giles Harris’s son William Dabney Harris last request was to be buried next to his godfather and best friend, Austin Dabney.
