Augusta Masters

Augusta's biggest claim to fame is The Masters Golf Tournament, a spring ritual when the eyes of the sporting world all focus on Georgia's second largest city. But the sheer magnitude of The Masters may sometimes obscure Augusta's other charms and a history that helps explain why this world renowned event happened to end up in Augusta. Bruce Burkhardt, in a prelude to his documentary, Augusta's Master Plan: From Sherman's March to Arnie's Army, explores the rich history of this charming city on the Savannah River. It brings together two seemingly unrelated storylines: the story of golf and the story of Southern survival.
