This year, the dates for Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for health and drug plans have changed to October 15th – December 7th. Each year, beneficiaries are encouraged to review their current plans to assure that their plan best meets their needs. Failure to review or take action during the AEP may result in higher out-of-pocket costs or loss of coverage. GeorgiaCares is ready to help!

GeorgiaCares is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and the SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol). We provide personalized counseling, education and outreach to assist beneficiaries and others with their Medicare questions and ways to protect against Medicare errors, fraud and abuse. GeorgiaCares counselors help with comparing and enrolling in Medicare plans and financial assistance programs to reduce out-of-pocket Medicare costs. You can contact a GeorgiaCares counselor by calling 1-866-55AGING (2-4464). More information about GeorgiaCares can be found at http://www.mygeorgiacares.org/.

On November 15th, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., GeorgiaCares counselors will take live calls through a phone bank, answer questions about Medicare from an in-studio audience and answer your questions through a live chat feature from the webpage. There will also be panelists from the Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Aging Services, Social Security Administration, DHS Division of Family and Children Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to discuss Medicare updates and fraud concerns.

The webcast will broadcast live and continue to be available at www.gpb.org/georgia-cares.
