The Gateway Arch: A Reflection of America

The story of the construction of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis is a tale as large as the gigantic architectural wonder itself. While the monument wasn't completed until 1964, the idea for the Arch sprang up out of the depths of the 1930's Depression. Artfully produced using pristine archival footage, re-enactments and interviews with architects and historians, The Gateway Arch documents the most ambitious construction project of its time. The program includes interviews with noted American museum architect David Libeskind, Eero Saarinen's daughter Susan and construction workers who recount their experiences from the building of the Arch. The Gateway Arch: A Reflection of America is narrated by actor Kevin Kline and features music by award-winning composer Tim Janis.
