PREP ROUNDUPS: Lowndes rolls, Walton fights back and more

The Lowndes Vikings laid into the Peachtree Ridge Lions in a resounding win over the defending Class 5A runner-up, 51-17. Lowndes scored twice in the first 32 seconds of the game to set the tone for the evening, and it was never close in Valdosta.

Grayson didn't score many points in its win over Warner Robins, but the Rams didn't need it. Mickey Conn's team took a 10-0 decision after a Seun Olukoju scored on a 34-yard run and Austin Clark hit a field goal. Grayson improves to 2-0 after defeating Camden County in the Corky Kell Classic.

Speaking of Camden County, the Wildcats pulled out an amazing, late-night victory over First Coast (Fla.) in the Border Wars event, which also featured Charlton County and Columbia (they tied in the first matchup of the night, 48-48). Camden scored on a touchdown pass in the waning seconds to take the 30-24 win.

In the "statement win" of the night, McEachern announced its full recovery from a three-year playoff drought and established itself as a player in Class 5A. The Indians bested Etowah 49-10 in a game that was never close. RB Rajaan Bennett rushed for 99 yards on 18 carries for McEachern.
