That's a wrap, folks!

by Alex Ewalt,

It could have been all Northeast metro champions with Flowery Branch and Peachtree Ridge wins, but score two for South Georgia as Cairo and Camden County got it done in the final two games of the 2008 season.

A little bit later, we will have full results, quotes and stats from Saturday's final game, which resulted in a second state title for Camden in six years. This was by far the most suspenseful of the five title games, and the only one which ended with a one-score difference. In Class 5A, at least, I think you can rightly say that the best two teams in the state made it to the end.

The first all-Dome championship weekend was a smashing success, and credit goes to the GHSA for making the right call by bringing the games to that central location. You can't beat the atmosphere and fanfare that the Dome provides, and I'm glad I had the pleasure to sit through all five games over these two days—that's right, a good 15 hours of high school football. Call me the Marathon Man ...

Thanks for staying with GPB.org and Score Atlanta throughout the games; we hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.
