Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning – The Department of Early Care and Learning oversees the early education and child care needs of Georgia's children and their families. Great site when looking for childcare providers and daycare centers in your area!




Count On It - Count On It! is a fun and innovative way to teach children mathematics. Show you kids how to play these great online games. Count On It! is also a video series featuring two puppets, Blossom and Snappy, who both love finding math in everyday situations. You can often find them shopping, baking, event planning, decorating and visiting attractions! This program can be viewed on the GPB Education Satellite Network and the GPB Digital Library.




Georgia Public Library Service – The Georgia Public Library Service’s mission is: Empowering libraries to improve the lives of Georgians. What a great idea! GPLS achieves its mission by: providing and encouraging visionary leadership; ensuring equal access to information and technology; promoting the value and joy of life long reading and learning; and facilitating collaboration and innovation in the broader library community. Georgia Standards and Thinkfinity! – Here, you’ll find information about the curriculum of the Georgia Department of Education. Find information about your child’s grade level or topic of interest and align to standards. From this site, you can also link to Thinkfinity – a wonderful and free resource for kids, parents, and educators. (Thinkfinity is also available in Spanish!)




Get Ready to Read - Get Ready to Read! (GRTR!) is a national initiative to build the early literacy skills of preschool-aged children. The initiative provides an easy-to-administer, research-based screening tool to early childhood educators, child care providers and parents in order to help them prepare all children to learn to read and write.

Learning Disabilities Online - LD OnLine.org is the world's leading web site on learning disabilities and ADHD, serving more than 200,000 parents, teachers, and other professionals each month. LD OnLine seeks to help children and adults reach their full potential by providing accurate and up-to-date information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD. The site features hundreds of helpful articles, multimedia, monthly columns by noted experts, first person essays, children’s writing and artwork, a comprehensive resource guide, very active forums, and a Yellow Pages referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.




National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) - NCFL believes family and literacy are the change agents for student success. The site provides information on the issues affecting family literacy and resources to help parents.




Parenting Counts - Parenting Counts is a family of educational materials sponsored by Talaris which provide research-based information about how children think, feel, and learn and supports parents with examples of best parenting practices.






PBS Kids – A great resource that provides children with interactive games that allows them to learn while utilizing their creativity. Through this web site children are free to choose from various types of games that add fun and excitement to the process of learning.




PBS Parents – A wonderful site that offers parents useful information pertaining to child development and learning. Through this site parents can find information on topics such as raising boys to hosting birthday parties.




A Place of Our Own – KCET’s A Place of Our Own (and Los Niños en Su Casa in Spanish) is a daily television series, a website, and an extensive outreach program devoted to the unique needs of people who care for children. A Place of Our Own shares ways for us all to help children acquire cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills, as well as nurture language and literacy development.




Raising Readers – Kids love to learn. And with your help, they'll learn to love reading with resources from PBS KIDS programs Between the Lions, Sesame Street, SUPER WHY, and WordWorld. With PBS KIDS Island, children ages 2-5 can play reading games, earn tickets, and collect prizes. Then, track your child's progress and get activities, lesson plans and tips just for parents, caregivers and teachers with PBS KIDS Raising Readers. New features are added regularly.




Reading Rockets – Informational website that offers recommended book lists, author videos, and information about teaching children to read.





Right from Birth – A television series that assists parents in understanding the developmental stages of children from birth to 18 months old.






Salsa – SALSA is a comprehensive Spanish program for young children featuring puppets, state-of-the-art graphics, animation and a good dose of humor. Visit SALSA games for a fun way to learn Spanish. SALSA is also a Spanish curriculum with each video lesson preceded by a staff development component that familiarizes the instructor (or parent!) with the content and objectives of the lesson, reviews all vocabulary words, and demonstrates the correct pronunciation of all Spanish words used in the lesson. There are 42 video lessons in the SALSA series.
