Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacob will engage participants in transforming their schools and classrooms into contemporary learning environments based on her best-selling book: Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing World (ASCD) .

Featured throughout the nation and internationally, her model for upgrading curriculum and assessment is predicated on strategic replacement of dated practices with contemporary alternatives k-12. Participants will walk through an exciting step-by-step approach to make strategic revisions in the classroom.

In addition, there will be an opportunity to develop strategies for helping learners create quality 21st century media projects using web 2.0 resources to revise dated content, skills, and assessments. There will be consideration of assessment types employing digital portfolios, video podcasting, and open source software in a practical manner in every subject area K-12.

Current interdisciplinary focus areas such as sustainability, media literacy, and globalization will be included, as well as how to modernize each discipline area. A key focus will be on linking upgrading media and digital literacy directly to the Common Core Standards. Join us for a dynamic, engaging, and useful session. Bring your laptops or tablets to get the most out of the day!

All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
