With the goal of encouraging more families to put their child on the path to college, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal joined states across the nation to declare September as College Savings Month. In celebration of College Savings Month, Georgia launched the third annual Hootie Coloring Sweepstakes intended to raise awareness of the importance of saving for college and making a financial commitment to your children’s future by saving today.
The coloring sweepstakes is available to all Georgia children enrollment in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Children can color a drawing of Hootie, the Wise Old Owl, the Path2College mascot who is on his path to college. Children also need to answer the question, “When I graduate, I am going to be a ____.”
One child from Georgia will be randomly drawn from all entries in early October. The winner’s parent or legal guardian will receive $1,529 towards a Path2College 529 Plan for their child and the school of the winner will receive $1,000. Completed coloring forms must be postmarked by 9/30/12 and received by 10/5/12.
All volunteers receive training, free parking and a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering.
