Any new business, large or small, whether it succeeds or fails, begins with an entrepreneurial spirit. It’s a pioneering spirit marked by vision, optimism, and a belief in oneself. Entrepreneurs are dream makers, risk-takers and go-getters.
Hosted by Richard Warner, Enterprising Entrepreneurs explores the world of business creators who dare to turn their dreams into a thriving enterprise. The ongoing episodes feature in-depth interviews with some of Georgia’s most successful and newly emerging entrepreneurs - people making their mark in businesses ranging from transportation to consulting, fashion and healthcare.
Each episode includes web-only content - additional material recorded before a live audience of business leaders and college business majors.

Episode # 501
Bernie Marcus
Co-Founder, The Home Depot
He is, perhaps, Georgia’s greatest entrepreneur. Fired from his job in 1978, Bernie Marcus and his partner founded Home Depot, which is now the second largest retailer in the US. On Home Depot’s opening day, most of the boxes on the store’s shelves were empty, and Marcus’s children handed out dollar bills to encourage shoppers to come into the store. After retiring from The Home Depot, Marcus donated $200 million to launch the Georgia Aquarium, which has transformed downtown Atlanta, and operates the Marcus Institute, which focuses on children and medical research. Georgia's Business host Richard Warner talks with Bernie Marcus about the challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship today.
