Video Streaming Website Now a Reality for Georgia Educators
In September 2002, GPB Education and United Learning announced a partnership that would allow Georgia classroom teachers to access educational video assets instantly via the Internet. This means teachers can access educational video clips complete with audio over the Internet without the use of a television or VCR. GPB Education is offering this service to Georgia teachers and learners FREE of charge. As of November 2006, Georgia educators may now find online more than 50,000 video clips from more than 1,000 different programs drawn from GPB Education's video repository. More programs are being added each day, so check the website for the latest information!
Teachers may search for video assets by grade, subject area, keyword or Georgia Performance Standard. The streaming website features video segments correlated to specific Georgia Performance Standards. The benefit of segmented video resources is that they allow teachers to select only those clips that apply directly to the standards they intend to teach. With video segments, teachers can stream via the Internet and will be able to target classroom instruction in a way that would engage your child.
The gpb.unitedstreaming.com website is password protected and these resources are available exclusively to Georgia educators. Each school media specialist has been given a passcode for all school personnel to access the site for the first time. Once individual users sign in with the school passcode, they will be prompted to create an individual username and password. From this point on, the users will use their created username and password to log in. If your school has not yet received its passcode, have your media specialist e-mail education@gpb.org with the name of the school, county, media specialist's name and e-mail address.
