General Literacy Resources
Colorin Colorado – Provides information to Spanish speaking parents on helping their children learn to read. It also provides educators information on
teaching English language learners.
Circle of Stories – Circle of Stories uses documentary film, photography, artwork and music to honor and explore Native American storytelling.
Fern's Poetry Club – Students can write, publish and read poems by other children. A poem is picked every day and published on the web.

Binky's Story Scramble – Students can work on their storytelling skills by placing the scrambled stories in order.
Get Ready to Read – Get Ready to Read! (GRTR!)
is a national initiative to build the early literacy skills of
preschool-aged children. The initiative provides an easy-to-administer,
research-based screening tool to early childhood educators, child care
providers and parents in order to help them prepare all children to
learn to read and write.

Maya and Miguel – Adventure Scrapbook – Using guided direction, children take photos and create a scrapbook.
It's My Life
– For middle grades, students can create a story strip using various
scenarios. A story strip is chosen and highlighted each week.

WORDGIRL – Program dedicated to building A strong foundation in literacy and language skills.
Reading Rockets
– A national multimedia reading initiative that examines how young kids
learn to read, which also offers research based strategies for
educators, parents and those who help children.
