April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Here you'll find links to training and programs to help you combat child abuse and neglect.
Available in a facilitator-led and online format, the Stewards of Children training is a comprehensive sexual abuse prevention program that educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. It is appropriate for any adult who is responsible for children as well as organizations needing to train staff and address policies and procedures.
Watch this video to see the importance of prevention training and how easy it is to access.
The statistics are shocking...1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before age 18; the median age of a child who is sexually abused is 9 years old; in 90% of sexual abuse cases, the child is familiar with the offender; and only 10% of sexually abused children will tell anyone. The sexual abuse of children impacts us emotionally, but it also impacts our society financially.
Child sexual abuse can be connected to drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, depression, homelessness, suicide, and even health problems later in life. The good news is that this epidemic is preventable and every adult can be part of the solution. Register for it here.
