Troubleshooting Your Video

  1. Test for On Demand Accessibility: All video on demand (now the CCGPS Orientations, plus all future video assets after they stream live) is made accessible through the third party Brightcove (Brightcove.com). IT departments from each system should visit the Brightcove website to ascertain whether access is restricted. When viewing the page, if video players pop up without issue and videos play when prompted, access should not be a problem.
  2. Test for Live Streaming Accessibility: All live videos will be streamed through Livestream (Livestream.com), our third-party provider of live streamed GPB Original Productions as well as client productions. Livestream.com always streams something live on their home page daily. Please check to see if your school system can see and view events streamed live from there.
  3. Change Web Settings: If your school system can neither see nor play video assets on either of these third party websites, it’s a good indicator that your school will not be able to access CCGPS videos (live or on demand) as a result. To circumvent any web-related obstacles, we recommend that your school system keeps current with the latest version of Flash and whatever Internet browser your school may be using (Safari, Mozilla Firefox, etc.). GPB recommends Mozilla Firefox as our chosen web browser. Beyond these initial preventive measures, we recommend that your school system allow any and all content from Brightcove.com and its associated web services (Akamai), and Livestream.com and its associated web services (Akamai as well) to be accessed on machines system wide.

Both Brightcove and Livestream are trusted third-party providers of professional video content and would not be perceived as a threat to upholding the web content standards vigilant school systems. If you have other questions or concerns, please let us know at newMedia@gpb.org.
