Lauded in Gramophone for his “abundant energy, powerful fingers, big sound, and natural musicality,” Mr. Atzinger is celebrated for insightful performances throughout the US and Europe. (Event Date: Thu 02/02)   The Morris Museum of Art, located at 10th and Reynolds in downtown Augusta, continues the “Mommy and Me” series Thursday morning at 10.  This time, the children and their guardians view an exhibition of baskets by Billie Ruth Sudduth, then weave a colorful basket of their own.  Advance registration is required. (Event Date: Thu 02/02)   The Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School presents “The ABC’s of Black History” Thursday evening at 7pm. (Event date: Fri 02/03)   This Friday at Augusta’s Morris Museum, the Films On Friday series presents the 1997 dark comedy, “Wag the Dog” starring Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro and William H. Macy. The free screening begins at noon and attendees are invited to bring a lunch. Following the viewing, museum director Kevin Grogan leads a discussion. (Event Date: Fri 02/03)   The Jessye Norman School of the Arts, located at 739 Greene Street in downtown Augusta, is hosting a special program for children ages 5 and under. Mr. Kenny’s Wondrous Stories, Songs and Play is Friday from 12:30 ‘til 2pm. The goal is to help children develop both their literacy skills and their cognitive skills. (Event Date: Sat 02/04)   The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History hosts their 11th annual “Heritage Gala” Saturday evening at 7 o’clock. This black-tie event takes place at The Augusta Marriott Hotel on the Riverwalk in Downtown Augusta. (Event date: Sat 02/04)   Coming to Augusta’s Bell Auditorium this Saturday, the Augusta Ballet presents Philadanco! as part of the 2017 New Traditions Dance Festival. The large-scale performance by the Philadelphia Dance Company takes place from 7:30 to 10:00pm and is the culmination of the 3-day festival.
