(Fri 10/14)   The Georgia-Carolina state fair begins on Friday, October 14 and continues until Sunday, the 23rd. This event includes carnival rides for all ages, games, an art exhibit, talent competitions, and more fried food than you could ever eat. (Fri 10/14)   Friday from 5 to 10:30pm, “Blues Traveler” performs at the Columbia County Amphitheatre along with The Marcus King Band and Cranford Hollow. The “Friends with Benefits” performance includes an eclectic mix of songwriters supported by two up-and-coming acts: The Marcus King Band, mentored by Allman Brothers guitarist Warren Haynes, plus Cranford Hollow, hailing from Hilton Head. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Press On Foundation supporting pediatric cancer research. The amphitheatre is located at 7016 Evans Towne Center Boulevard. (Sat 10/22/16)   The Augusta Choral Society is preparing for a regal performance of Handel’s Coronation Anthems featuring the ACS chorus and the Lyra Vivace Orchestra. It’s next Saturday, October 22nd, as the ACS opens its new season with a concert entitled “A Crowning Achievement.” TThe evening also includes selections of music composed for royal occasions and celebrations.
