The Augusta Museum of History presents the program on the first Monday of each month with the goal of introducing children ages 2 to 6 to the magic of history through a variety of fun activities. (Wed 9/7)   “Story Time in The Gardens” takes place Wednesday afternoon from 4 til 5 at Hopelands Gardens in Aiken. (Thu 9/8)  Antiracist author and educator Tim Wise is set to speak on “The Importance of Student Activism” Thursday afternoon at Maxwell Theatre on the Augusta University Summerville Campus.  He’ll be joined by Lecturer, Activist, and Honorary U.S. Cultural Ambassador Ms. Yewande Austin who’ll host a Social Justice Discussion: “The Art of Change.” The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place at  6:30pm as part of The 6th Annual Diversity and Inclusion Summit. (Fri 09/09)   This Friday, you can meet famed musician and accomplished photographer Marty Stuart at the Exhibition Opening Celebration from 5:30-7:30 at the Morris Museum. The country music icon, 5-time Grammy winner and passionate photographer has captured backstage moments with country and bluegrass legends including Loretta, Lynn and Willie Nelson. Stuart will be heading to the Imperial a 6:30 for his 7:30 show—and if you’ve got tickets to the Southern Soul & Song performance, admission to the Morris event is free. (Fri 09/09)   This Friday evening at 7:00, it’s opening night of the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre’s production of A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia”—a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. Backstage magazine has written: ““Gurney’s mad comedy is the most endearing good time to trot down the pike in many a moon. Howlingly funny…” The production runs weekends through September. (Thu 09/15)   Historic Augusta’s Annual Benefit Auction—“Perfectly Aged”--is coming to Saint Paul’s Augusta’s River Room on Thursday, September 15th at 6:30pm. The evening features wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a raffle, and a silent auction featuring antiques and wine. Proceeds support the mission of Historic Augusta.
