(Mon 7/4)  This week in Augusta, a children’s July 4th Celebration.  It’s part of the Augusta Museum of History “Monday At The Museum” series. From 10 til 11 Monday morning, children can hear stories about the American Revolutionary War, play with the Revolutionary War touch cart, then create an American flag puzzle. (Mon 7/4)  Monday evening at 7, Aiken’s Hopelands Summer Concert Series presents jazz artists “Preston & Weston” in the spotlight on Hopelands Gardens’ Windham Performing Arts Stage. The Gardens are located just off Aiken’s Whiskey Road. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets are welcome, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Admission is free. Wed 7/6)  “Story Time In The Park” is presented by the City of Aiken Wednesday morning from 10 til 11 at Osbon Park. Admission is free, especially for children 8 and under, and each family gets a free book. Osbon Park is located at 346 Columbia Avenue in Aiken.  More information is available at CityofAikenSC.gov.

(Thr 7/7)  “Lifting the Veil on Islam” is an open monthly dialogue series for CSRA Muslims and their Friends & Neighbors. It takes place at The Islamic Community Center of Augusta, 465 Old Evans Road at Blue Ridge in Martinez. This is an opportunity to hear and discuss any questions and concerns about relations between the Muslim and non-Muslim community.  The event takes place at 7pm Thursday. (Fri 7/8)  This Friday, it’s time for water games at Mistletoe State Park. It’s part of the park’s Friday Summer Fun, and kids can join the park’s Naturalist for outdoor activities and playtime. Kids should be dressed to play outside, and arrive with water and sunscreen. Admission is $5 and there’s a $5 parking fee. The park is located at 3725 Mistletoe Road in Appling. (Fri 7/8)  This Friday, the Morris Museum’s Films on Friday presents the 1955 classic movie adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” The free screening starts at noon and is followed by a discussion led by Museum Director, Kevin Grogan. Participants are invited to bring a lunch to this free Friday event. The Museum is located at 10th & Reynolds beside Augusta’s Riverwalk. More info online at themorris.org.

(Sat 7/9)  The “Free Summer Family Fun Film Series” continues at The Imperial Theatre.  Saturday morning at 10, it’s “James And The Giant Peach”, the story of an orphan who makes a journey to New York City with some human-like bugs he befriends… that live inside a giant peach. (Sun 7/10)  This Sunday, you and your family can meet horses, ponies, and donkeys at the Morris Museum courtesy of the Museum and Sue Vetsch with her Mini Equine Show. Artrageous! (Sun 7/10)  Sunday evening at 7:30, the Candlelight Jazz Concert Series Continues downtown on The Augusta Common. (Mon 7/11)  Monday July 11th, it’s time for more music in the good ol’ summertime as Hopelands Gardens presents the Parris Island Marine Band as part of Hopelands’ free Summer Concert Series. Cited for Musical Excellence in Military Concert Bands, the in-demand marching band performs concerts across the country, and you can hear them right here in the CSRA starting at 7pm.
