As you may have heard, the Colquitt County-Valdosta game tonight is huge as Fletcher stated in his GPB game of the week preview below. However, there are many other bigtime matchups around the state tonight with playoff implications. … One of those matchups is No. 8 Peach County at No. 9 Baldwin, a game many around Region 2-AAA have been waiting for all season. And, in living up to those expectations, the game will decide the region title. While the Trojans come in with a loss to West Laurens, the Braves enter with a non-region loss to No. 6 Burke County. A Peach County win would deadlock the two in first place, but the Trojans would get the No. 1 seed due to their head-to-head win. A Baldwin win would put the Braves in first place all by themselves. Peach County comes in having won three straight and giving up just 23 points in those games while Baldwin has won eight in a row. … In Class AAA, No. 5 Thomson will battle No. 6 Burke County for the Region 3 title. There is only one loss between the two teams, a Burke County loss to Class AAAAA power Lowndes. … With No. 2 Wilcox County at the top of Region 2-A, No. 9 Clinch County and No. 6 Charlton County will battle for second place tonight at The Swamp in Folkston. The winner of the game will earn the No. 2 seed out of the region. With losses to Wilcox County and Irwin County, the Panthers have found the going tough in defending their Class A title. The perennially-tough Indians will try to make it tougher tonight. … North Oconee will be gunning for their first-ever region title tonight. With a win over Banks County, the Titans will earn the Region 8-AA championship. … In the Savannah area, Benedictine and Groves will battle for the final Region 3-AAAAA playoff spot.
