The exciting conclusion to the 2019 GHSA football season will be played out this weekend at Georgia State Stadium when eight state championship games are played in Atlanta Friday-Saturday and televised on GPB.

For a school like talent-rich Marietta, it could be their first state football championship since 1967. For a school like Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy it would be their state record fifth straight state title.

But what if you don’t have a “dog in the fight?” What if you’re just looking for some exciting football, or you want to get a sneak peak at the players who will star on Saturdays and maybe Sundays in the years ahead?

We’ve got you covered. From a college football recruiting standpoint, there is no team deeper than the aforementioned Marietta Blue Devils. The top three senior prospects among the 16 state finalists play for Marietta. As do four of the top six and five of the top ten. In fact, the Blue Devils have eight players committed to Power 5 conference teams, a total of ten FBS commits and another four players who have been offered college scholarships but are still uncommitted.

Only Class 2A Dublin with two, has more than one senior rated among the Top 10 prospects playing in the eight state finals. Among the top-rated juniors, Class 3A Crisp County is best represented with three of the top seven rated 11th graders playing in the weekend games.

In perhaps a sign that players are really attracted to a front runner, LSU has three commits playing in the state finals and those three players are among the top four rated players playing this weekend. It might surprise that the Georgia Bulldogs have only one. The same number as Georgia Tech and one less than the two players committed to both Alabama and Colorado.
