And Away We Go...

So, now we’re all underway in region play…

With region 1-7A involved starting this week, everyone is now involved in the sprint to the finish…

There are teams in trouble, teams trying to figure it out, and teams trying to find their way in the next few weeks. Let’s see how we got here as we take the mad dash through it all…

How many times have I mentioned Eli Mashburn’s name this season already…?

He gets mentioned again for his efforts for Warner Robins in their game against Thomas County Central. See if you’ve heard this story before… late in the game, Demons trailing, Mashburn comes out onto the field and this happens…

Head coach Mike Chastain has the team at 7-0 after the 30-yard field goal with time running out. And, remember, Warner Robins was down 21-0 at the break…

Another central Georgia team we’re keeping an eye on is Mary Persons (Mary Persons…). Head coach Brian Nelson (no relation) had their hands full with an Upson-Lee side in Forsyth…

But the home folks had the last say… Big Marvin has the highlights…

So, LEHGO!

Over in the CSRA, I still think there’s a collision course to be had when Cartersville and Thomson square off- whenever that is (and I still haven’t seen a bracket so, I hope if everything plays out in that manner it’s for the last game of the season), and Thomson still rolls with a father-and-son at the top of the marquee.

Nathan and Zach have a look at another big offensive number by the Bulldogs- and just as many points put up by folks in Burke County, Aquinas, and Jefferson County on another “Football Friday Night.”

And, then, what do you do after committing to the G… Oh, wait a minute…

“Committing to the G!” (for those of you who follow what goes on in Athens…)

You’re a part of 7 touchdowns as your team, the Harrison Hoyas, beat Sprayberry 63-41…

Justin Fields, with his green jersey on, had his hand in those scores- 5 through the air and 2 more on the ground… thanks to our friends at SEC Country…

But, if I turn around and tell you that the reigning champs in 6A are struggling right now heading into region play, would you believe me…??? If I had told you that Valdosta lost again… this time to Northside, what would you have said…???

Our friends at Morrell Productions have your look back at a defensive slugfest where the Eagles took advantage of four interceptions and scored on defense AND special teams…

So, Dear Reader, what stuck with you this past week…??? Who surprised and who stayed the course that you thought they would…???
