Winning one state title is a thrill.  Winning two in a row is special. Winning three straight, well that’s a three-peat which puts a program in very rare air. But how about a team that SCORES FOUR in a row.

The Lambert Girls golf team is on the brink of a dynasty.  The Lady Longhorns have chipped, putted, driven, and sand saved their way to an incredible four straight GHSA Class 6A  state golf championships something that has never been done before in the state’s highest classification. Coach Joel Posey has been at the helm of this ship since the program began back in 2010.  The team has won seven straight regional titles and now has won 4 straight state titles.  They may have to build a new trophy case out at 805 Nichols Road in Suwanee, Georgia.

“This is the deepest team we have ever had. We have eight girls who can really play the game and all  have a terrific work ethic.”  says Coach Posey.

At the state finals sophomore Kate Owens led the way at the Sunset Country Club in Moultie, Georgia, with a sizzling round of 73 to take medalist honors.  Senior Kayley Marschke fired a 78, fellow senior  Lauren Lightfritz talied a 79,  and Tiffany Kang shot an 85.   In the finals,  a team gets to send four players with the low 3 scores counted for the title.  The coach had high praise for his two seniors Kayley and Lauren.

“The two seniors are the undisputed team leaders. They have helped  build a winning climate with a work ethic second to none. Don’t get me wrong, they are gifted golfers, but their work ethic has made the difference. These two played as freshman and have been a big part of the success we have had winning four in a row,” says the Coach.

Kayley will take her talents to the next level next year playing for the Auburn Tigers and Lauren will play collegiately for Mercer.

As for the team’s sophomore medalist, Coach Posey says, “Kate Owens is the new upcoming star on this team.  She has massively improved from last year and really has stepped up her game since the start of this season.”

Let’s put this team and this incredible streak in some perspective.  Lambert High School is a new school, founded in 2009.  The Lady Longhorns have played for 7 regional titles and won all seven.  They have not lost an 18 hole stroke play tournament over the last four years spanning about 20 tournaments.  And the Lady Longhorns have now won four straight GHSA titles in a row.

“This fourth one is the best.  I wanted it so bad for our two seniors,”  says Coach Posey.

But hold the phone,  what about the STRIVE FOR FIVE…… what about next year.

“We lose our two talented seniors, but we have a lot of talent returning. A strong case can be made with the players we have coming back that we would be the favorite to win  again next year.”

With a record like Lambert High School’s,  who is going to argue.

Congratulations to Coach Joel Posey and his Lady Longhorns, GHSA  state champs now, four years in a row!!!
