King Of Goal Scorers Is A Prince
Primary Content
Noah Prince is a 5-10, 135 pound senior striker-forward for the Savannah Arts Academy Panthers soccer team. The team is on a roll, 13-0 in region play, 17-3 overall, and right now in the Elite 8 of the GHSA soccer tournament with a huge quarterfinal matchup with Calhoun on Friday.
And while the team is on a roll, so is Noah. He has scored an incredible 44 goals this season, which comes out to over 2 goals per game which makes him tied for the top spot in goals scored this year with Josh Bronstroph of Dunwoody High School whose season is over.
“Our midfielders do a great job in getting Noah the ball and he does a great job if he gets a half step or a half second opening to put it between the pipes. He is very quick and has great pace and most importantly of all he reads the game, very very well.” Says Panthers coach Jdhordane Williams.
Noah agrees. “ I scored 38 goals last year and because our team is so much better this year I didn’t think I would score as many goals. But I give all the credit to our Midfielders. I wouldn’t be able to score so many goals if not for them. They have been getting me the ball in the right positions and I have been able to take advantage of their great play by scoring a lot of goals.”
And if opponents think they are seeing two of Noah out there on the pitch, their eyes are not deceiving them. Noah’s twin brother Jeremy is also a big part of this Savannah Arts Academy soccer team, and they seem to have a sixth sense about each other on the pitch.
“We read each other’s mind when we are on the field. We just know where the other is going and where we want the ball instinctively. We are really in sync with each other and it really makes a difference in game situations.”
Being a marked man, all the other teams know that Noah is the guy who can score a lot of goals and he has been that guy for a long time.
“I have been playing soccer since I was seven and scoring goals my whole life. I use to watch my two older brothers play high school soccer and I use to dream about playing in a close match and scoring the game winning goal and feeling all the joy and glory of being a part of a big win. I have always wanted to be that player.”
Noah and his teammates are in the quarterfinals of the GHSA Playoffs and travel to Calhoun to take on the Yellow Jackets on Friday. Noah feels this year’s team has a chance to be in the winner’s circle next week. “I feel we are good enough to win it all this year. We have a great group of seniors and a talented crew of underclassman on the team this year as well.
Coach Williams says one of the key strengths of this year’s team is strong senior leadership and Noah agrees. “I have been on the varsity team since I was a freshman and I learned from the juniors and seniors on that team on how to practice and play and conduct myself in the right way. And I am trying to help pass on those qualities to the young guys on this year’s team.”
No doubt about it that Noah Prince is a goal scoring phenom. He has dreamed of scoring the game winner in a title game since the age of seven. And if his team can win three more games, that dream just might come true.
