So, here we are…

The last week of the regular season… didn’t think it would have come to us this quickly, but when the season flies the way it does, you turn around and you see that it’s ALREADY NOVEMBER!!!

There’s one week to improve your lot and get into the sprint that is the playoffs- and, in a lot of cases, it’s win and in… positions are in play, seedings are in play, and it’s “Checkers or Wreckers” in some situations. There are 6 teams for 4 spots in some regions that are far from being decided. There are three-way tiebreakers that could be decided by some of the more imaginative tie-breakers around.

Or we could even have mini-games early next week (or as my good friend Wes James down at Lowndes referred to them Friday night- “goat-ropers”)

Here’s how we got here…

Northside and Carver squared off for the Region 1-5A title, Hawkinsville is against the wall in region 4-A taking on Pacelli, and Callaway took on Haralson County to reinforce their 5-AAA standing going into the last week.

Dave and Tall Paul have the highlights…

From one coast to the other, Matt and Nathan take a look at Region 2-5A as Houston County and Jones visit the CSRA, Washington County started out their season on a difficult note but are humming along in Region 3-AAA, and Region 3-Quad A continues to beat each other up for another week.

Down South, it’s starting with one word- Winnersville!

Region 1-6A tries to sort each other out, Cairo tries to get back in the playoff race in Region 1-AAAA, and Brooks County has taken region 1-AA from the rest of the southern teams.

Last stop this week is the east coast where Slats and Kim Sears take us through Region 3-5A- where it STILL looks like 6 teams for 4 spots, Claxton tries to slow down Savannah Christian’s Demetris Robertson, Calvary Day takes on Savannah Country Day, and the rest of Savannah is on display…

The “Football Fridays in Georgia” podcast this week checks in with Mary Persons head coach Brian Nelson, Turner County’s Ben Simmons, and Union County’s Brian Allison about their teams and towns. Go ahead and play it above all these written words…

This week on “Football Fridays in Georgia,” it’s two top five teams in Class 5A going at it when we visit Lakewood Stadium for the first time as Mays hosts Stephenson. The “All-Access Pass” pre-game show starts at 7 with Jackie, Mark, Matt, Larry, and myself with kickoff a little after 7:30.

Be sure to follow along with us as we fill in our brackets and get geared up for the playoffs which start next Friday. And, that in and of itself, is the shocker in all of this…

We’re already staring at the post-season…

We can’t wait for the playoffs and for the playoff picture to get all figured out. But, we all think we’re going to need a slide rule and mini-games to follow…

Play it safe, everyone… I’ll see you at the stadium!
