Matt Stewart and I get into an argument about what last week really was:

So, I will put it to you Dear Reader: What Was Last Week…??? Week Zero or Week One…

Be sure to log on to our Facebook page (GPB Sports) or reach out to any of us on the Twitters (I’m @OSGNelson, for the record…) to let us know what you think… or you can comment at the bottom of the page- and keep it clean, please… answers could be in next week’s Mailbag.

Question Number Two: What is the biggest match-up you’re looking forward to with the upcoming week’s games…??? There are a few games out there that you can pay attention to…

Examples: Archer and Peachtree Ridge, McEachern and Buford, Colquitt and Tampa-Plant, Grayson and Gainesville, Stockbridge and ELCA, BT and Pius, Peach and Warner Robins… they’re all out there…

Which one looks the best to you…???

Let us all know… right here…

But, the best part of these exchanges every week, is looking back at last week to set up what is about to happen this time around.

One of the best games, outside of the Lowndes-Roswell match-up on “Football Fridays,” in the entire state was the donnybrook in Savannah between double-A powers Benedictine and GAC

Ken Slats has the look at that game and others along the coast…

Central Georgia had its share of GISA match-ups and region rivalries… so, we’ll yield the floor to Ben and Frank for 13WMAZ’s coverage of two neighboring counties that have been going at it for decades- Bleckley and Dodge in the beautiful town of Eastman.

There was a really cool moment down in Tifton- and it’s the personification of what these weeks are all about during the year. After, almost, 50 years Walter Burgess was retiring as “Mr. Blue Devil.” Theo Dorsey has a look at opening night at Brodie Field.

Last stop this week is Columbus for some “Sports Overtime” with Dave and Stock- and, see Matt…??? They call it “Week Zero” looking at Kendrick, Callaway, and LaGrange for starters…

So, it’s time for a lot of the 400-plus squads to get their first games underway…

We will be back on September 11th for the rest of the season with you when Walton visits Etowah. Until then, be a part of our conversation on the GPB Sports Facebook page, on Twitter, and on the GPB Sports app.

The “Football Fridays in Georgia” podcast this week is the first tour of talking to coaches about the 2015 season. Stops include Roberta, Fort Valley, Rochelle, and Tifton. So click on it and share with all you know…
