I apologize if the beginning of this week is a downer...

But the thoughts and prayers of those of us at GPB Sports go out to the Durden family and the Buford community as they laid the eldest son of girl's head basketball coach Gene Durden to rest Sunday. Devin Tyler Durden was critically injured in an automobile accident September 26th and passed from his injuries early Thursday morning.

To Gene, his wife Cherie, his daughter Danielle, and his sons Coby and Christian, we love you and we're thinking of all of you in this difficult time.

I've known the Durdens since his time in Trenton at Dade County and knowing how tight they are as a family, just know that the strength of the Pack will help you through and we're here for you as Devin is now home...

On to the football...

First thing I know... a couple of coaches grabbed their 100th wins as top dogs this past week...

Jess Simpson at Buford got his with a 61-0 win over West Hall to improve to 4-1 in triple-A and Mark Crews, Brookwood's head man got his on GPB with a 45-17 win over Dacula...

Here's how Crews got the win... enjoy the broadcast... and tell us what you think...

Second thing I know... we started talking about backyard brawls last week on "Football Fridays..." and I will always maintain, that in double-A (at least) Region 1 may have four teams in the quarterfinals- of not deeper by the time we're through...

Cook and Fitzgerald beat each other up last week... thanks to our friends at the GHSF Daily...

QB Romarius Gaulden scored on runs of 58 and 40 yards in the first quarter and threw a 24-yard TD pass to Zeke Coley. Coley had intercepted a pass moments before. Gaulden had 121 yards rushing on 21 carries.

Brooks County, currently ranked second behind Calhoun, beat Thomasville 28-10. And we've already seen that Maurice Freeman isn't afraid of anyone, any time, at any place- the Valdosta win is evidence of that...

Here's the highlights as Robert Hydrick's in the Locker Room...

Oh, Brooks and Fitzgerald are together next week...

Third thing I Know... We talk about how much fun triple-A is going to be with Peach County, Washington County, Thomson, and St. Pius wrapped around Buford...

Peach had no problems with Henry County, Thomson won a shootout with GAC, but Washington County is still rolling...

Joel Ingram ended his non-region schedule with a win over Lovett where the Golden Hawks scored on every possession that didn't end a half...

Big Marvin shoots and tells the tale...

Fourth Thing I Know... I think Burke County is still running...

It was fun to see the Bears and their offense take on Peach County in the triple-A final last year at the Georgia Dome... it was a great contrast in styles as the Trojans kept them under wraps for almost three quarters until Eric Parker's crew wore them down...

As they seem to do to everyone all season long...

Two words: Donquell Green...

On another "Football Friday Night", Matt and Tom let you know what's up in the CSRA...
Burke's 50-point outburst is included...

So, quad-A gives us Sandy Creek, Marist, Burke, and Carrollton to keep an eye on...

Oh, by the way... GPB will have Sandy Creek and Carrollton in a few weeks for your viewing pleasure...

Fifth Thing I Know... Blatant plug alert...

Speaking of Backyard Brawls...

Your "Football Fridays" crew has a trip to Greater Atlanta Christian in mind as they take on Westminster...
It's Homecoming, so you know what that means...

Join Jenn, Mark, Grace, Rayven, Gil, Trey, David, "Moi" and the cast of thousands that put the game on the air for you. The "All-Access Pass" hits the air at 7:30, with kickoff around 8:08.
