The Brookwood boys tennis team has been able to compile a very impressive 21-0 record this season, including a Region 8-AAAAA title. The team has met every challenge handed to them on and off the court this season and will be a force in the state tournament. Head coach Heath Hinton has been impressed so far with his team's performance, and expects them to continue their solid play at state. "The players have done a great job with a very tough schedule. All ten players have been instrumental in winning key matches that have resulted in an undefeated regular season and a current 21-0 record," Hinton said.

The Broncos follow the lead of their number one singles player, Mark Guentert, and their number one doubles pairing of Matt Jones and David Brown. Guentert is a four-year starter for the varsity squad but is in his first season playing in the top spot on the roster. He has stepped up to the challenge and has utilized his experience to help him succeed against the toughest players on each opposing team. Hinton, when talking of Jones and Brown, simply said, "They play very well together." That may be an understatement considering the duo has gone undefeated on the season, taking down every top doubles team on the way.

Going into the state tournament, Brookwood will look to remain undefeated and cap off this incredible season with a state title. While a perfect season is certainly a possibility, Hinton is making sure his team remains focused on the task at hand each step of the way through the tournament. "We hope to win our state tournament matches one point at a time and not look ahead. The draw will be tough from the beginning and we cannot afford to worry about how far we can go until we get there." While the goal is to take the title, the Broncos are focused on winning each point in each match, and if they can do that, the title will come to them in the process.
