Polk County will soon have a third solar farm in operation

A 10-acre farm is going solar in Polk County. This will be the third solar farm in Polk County and should be completed by 2014, according to the Cedartown Standard. The other two solar farms are in Rockmart and Cedartown.

Along with a quiet and low-impact energy source, a major benefit from the solar farm would be additional local construction jobs along with periodic operational and maintenance positions.

In 2012, the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative (GPSAI) was approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission. The program was designed to encourage economic growth by providing opportunities for solar development in Georgia.
