If your kids can dance like a Broadway star they should audition for Maurine Hines’ upcoming production Maurice Hines Tappin’ Thru Life. Auditions are being held today from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Alliance Theatre.

Registration for the auditions begins at 1 p.m. You can pre-register at alliance.audition@woodruffcenter.org

Here are the requirements:

  • Kids should be between the ages of 9-13 and should be based in the Atlanta metro area.
  • A strong tap background is preferred.
  • Bring two copies of a headshot and resume.
  • For the initial audition, bring tap shoes and come prepared to perform 1 to 2 minutes of a solo tap combination of one’s choosing.

Callbacks will be held the same day from 4 p.m -5:30 p.m.

Through song and dance, “Tappin Thru Life” pays tribute to Hines’ brother Gregory , Hines' tap dancing life and the singers who have inspired him, from Frank Sinatra to Lena Horne. To help bring the history of American tap to life, Hines brings The Diva Orchestra, an all-female nine-piece big band. The show opens at the Alliance Theatre April 2 and runs through May 4.
