Elves aren’t only good for reporting your students’ behavior to Santa during the holidays. They can also assist with learning useful tips to ensure that they ace the high stakes exams that are right around the corner. Exam Elf is an app available for iPad that helps fourth through eighth grade students prepare for mathematic assessments. Here are five facts about Exam Elf.

1. Questions are Based on Specific Skills

Students can master twelve essential skills including time management, erasure usage, focus and recovery, and familiarity by answering a series of questions. Click here for a list of all of the skills Exam Elf sharpens.  

2. Can Increase Student Confidence

Knowing the content on an exam is only half of the battle. Properly shading in a bubble, not lingering on a question for too long, and rechecking answers are also necessary to excelling on standardized tests. Learning these strategies beforehand can lessen anxiety and boost confidence.

3. Free Teacher Interface

The teacher interface allows you to monitor the progress of your students as they work through the program. You can also view their progression from the previous month or weeks.

4. Strengths and Weaknesses Report

Pinpoint specific mathematical concepts that are troubling individual students or the class as a whole with the strengths and weaknesses report. You can even view the ten most difficult questions for the class.

5. Common Core Alignment

Exam Elf is a State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College And Careers resource for mathematics. It is aligned to the Common Core standards and uses Kaplan Test Preparation questions to teach these techniques. All Georgia educators should download the Common Core version of the program.
