Bob Houghton

Bob Houghton has more than 30 years of broadcast experience, including serving as on-air talent, working in sales, and holding management and corporate executive positions. He has worked in Chicago, New York City, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dallas/Ft. Worth and, for the past 15 years, in Atlanta. An active and involved community leader, Houghton has served on local, state and national boards for a variety of broadcast organizations, civic groups and sports associations. He was on the marketing committee for the Dallas Symphony and helped market the opening of the Myerson Symphony Center in 1989. He has served as Board Member for the March of Dimes of Georgia and is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta. Bob was named Broadcaster of the Year in 1994 by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.

A retired Captain in the Navy Reserve, Houghton served in Vietnam and as an advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations while on active duty. He held two commands and two staff positions while serving in the reserves and was awarded the Legion of Merit upon his retirement. He has a Masters degree from Northwestern University School of Communications and an undergraduate degree in Business from Illinois Wesleyan University. Bob and Vivien, his wife of 30 years, live in Dunwoody. Their daughter, Kimberly, is a student at the University of Alabama. He is a long-time fan and supporter of public broadcasting.
