"When I arrived at GPB two years ago, I saw a diamond that had been cut beautifully, but not always fully appreciated. Consider what you, the citizens of Georgia, have built: GPB has nine television stations and 17 radio stations covering 98% of the state. In terms of populations reach, GPB is the third largest PBS system in the country.
“We even had more than one hundred troops watching from Afghanistan.”
"What does that mean in real terms? Well let me give you an example. When we aired the High School Football Championships in December, GPB was the most watched public television station in the country and more than half a million Georgians tuned to watch. Folks from every state in the union and 27 countries around the globe watched the games streamed live on our website. We even had more than one hundred troops watching from Afghanistan. Those were most likely Georgia GIs watching their brothers go for the gold in the Georgia Dome. That made us very proud at GPB.
"And that is the power of GPB's reach; and frankly, its economic value. In the media business value is, in part, based on reach and distribution."
